KWG Resources, which is operating at the Canadian Chrome Company (CCC), has announced its membership in the US Defense Industrial Base Consortium (DIBC), a platform designed to strengthen collaboration between government, industry, and academia.

The inclusion, KWG says, positions CCC to access Defense Production Act funding.

DIBC facilitates research, development, and deployment of solutions for defense requirements, with a focus on strategic and critical materials such as chromium.

CCC has long focused on unlocking the potential of chromium resources in Ontario’s Ring of Fire. Between 2009 and 2010, the company staked 1 685 claims across a 330-km corridor from Nakina, Ontario, to its properties in the mineral-rich region. This corridor is earmarked for the development of transportation and electrification systems.

Subsequent surveying, mineral testing, and engineering studies identified aggregate deposits essential for constructing infrastructure, including roads, railways, and electrification systems. CCC has secured 32 aggregate extraction permits to support these initiatives.
